Hi everyone,
I am very new to php and have very a basic knowledge so please any ignorance!
I have had a software application built for me by a software developer and have recently taken over minor changes myself without any support. The application uses a php page called ‘webcore’ with all the functions stored on it. We use Parallels Plesk Control Panel.
The problem is that today all of a sudden the software stopped working because of a problem in the webcore. When I went to investigate I found lots of characters throughout my code that I did not recognise for example all the ‘{’ had changed to ‘ã’. After googling I realised that perhaps the encoding type had been changed. But when I ensured it was saved as ‘UTF-8’ this made no difference.
Last week the same thing happened but lots of characters where changed to question marks.
Does any know how to change them all back to the right characters and could this be happening because of a bug?
I had some problems with the software developer including a phone call from the police so although I have changed all the passwords and usernames to my software I am concerned he may have planted a bug. Would this be possible?!
Any help would be much appreciated!
Thank you,
Josie
